PMPL 2020 Finals South Asia Day 1 round-up: Celtz top overall standings, Orange Rock win 2 Chicken Dinners

Celtz stunned the rest of the 16-team pack to finish on top of the overall standings on Day 1 of the PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) 2020 South Asia Finals.

Celtz did not even finish inside the top 10 as they just one Chicken Dinner over 48 matches in the PMPL South Asia 2020 League stage. However, they managed to qualify for the finals after finishing 13th in the league.

It was a bad start to their PMPL 2020 South Asia Finals campaign as Celtz were eliminated at the 11th spot in the opening match on Friday.

However, they roared back to form, consistently finishing inside the top 8 in all the remaining 4 matches of the day. With 30 points and Chicken Dinner in the final match in Erangel, Celtz topped the table.

Orange Rock continue to impress

Orange Rock, who had won the PMPL South Asia 2020 League Stage, were on fire on the opening day as they won 2 Chicken Dinners.

Orange Rock slipped behind Celtz after getting eliminated in the final match at the 15th spot.

Celtz are on top of the overall standings with 71 points while Orange Rock are at the 2nd spot with 62 points. It’s still early days in PMPL South Asia 2020 Finals as there are 10 more matches to be played.

Notably, the PMPL South Asia 2020 Finals will offer 3 World League spots. The League Stage offered 4 World League spots and Orange Rock, TSM ENTITY, GodLike and SynerGE grabbed them.

Marcos Gaming, U Mumba step up

While GodLike ran away with the 3rd spot on the overall standings after Day 1 action, Marcos Gaming and U Mumba were consistent throughout the day to finish inside the top 5.

Both Marcos Gaming and U Mumba will be keen on clinching the World League spots.

SynerGE were among the 4 teams to win a Chicken Dinner when they did so in the 3rd Match of the Day in Sanhok. However, they did not finish inside the top 8 of the overall standings.

TSM ENTITY, the winners of India Today League PUBG Mobile Invitational, had an on-and-off day on Friday, finishing at the 10th spot.

While 3 World League spots are up for grabs, keep in mind the PMPL 2020 South Asia Finals offers total prize money of $138,500. The battle is on as 10 more matches will be played over Saturday and Sunday.
