Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has continued with his humble donations amid the coronavirus pandemic. From donating masks to food packets and Vitamin C tablets Irfan Pathan, along with his elder brother Yusuf Pathan has left no stone unturned to show that humanity still lives in this world.

But this time around his latest donation to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) official cobbler is winning hearts. The Baroda-born cricketer-turned-commentator literally followed the cobbler for few days and reached out to him finally to donate approximately the same amount of money which Bhaskaran makes during an IPL season.

Irfan Pathan came to know about the plight of Bhaskaran after reading an article in ESPNcricinfo and from there on he called the cobbler himself after arranging his number. Initially, Irfan failed to reach him but he did not give up and reached Bhaskaran finally.

“I got Rs 1,000 per match and CSK players took good care of me. At the end of the season, players and coaches would pool in and hand it over to me. Last year, I got around Rs 25,000, apart from what Dhoni gave me separately.

“Last week Irfan Pathan sent some money (Rs 25,000). I bought groceries for the family. Since there was no work, I had borrowed money and have to pay it back. I don’t know how I will survive. If cricket doesn’t return soon, I will be gone,” Bhaskaran was quoted as saying by ‘The New Indian Express’.

Team India wicket-keeper batsman also took notice of the noble gesture by Irfan and applauded him in a Twitter post.

“Special stuff @IrfanPathan Well done and to many more such small deeds of generosity from everyone,” Dinesh Karthik wrote on Twitter.

Chennai-based Bhaskaran calls himself the ‘official’ cobbler of Chepauk. He sits behind the sightscreen in all the home matches of Chennai Super Kings.
