Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday announced several key decisions taken at a Covid-19 review meeting held with Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Delhi L-G Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others.
“The Modi government is committed to control spread of Covid-19 in Delhi. Today, several important decisions were taken to protect people of Delhi and to prevent this infection,” Amit Shah said.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted saying, “Extremely productive meeting between Delhi government and central government. Many key decisions taken. We will fight against corona together.”
The meeting was focused on how to tackle the pandemic in Delhi, availability of hospital beds, testing facilities and improvement of other heath infrastructure.
Here are the all the key decisions announced by Home Minister Amit Shah for controlling and preventing the spread of Covid-19 in Delhi:
1. Covid-19 testing to be tripled in next 6 days
Amit Shah said Covid-19 testing would soon be increased by three times in next six days. “To prevent coronavirus infection in Delhi, the testing of Covid-19 will be doubled in the next two days and after six days testing would be increased by three times,” the HM tweeted.
2. Testing to be done at every polling station in containment zones
“Also, after a few days, testing facility will be started at every polling station of the containment zone,” he said.
3. 500 railway coaches to be provided for shortage of beds
In the view of the shortage of beds in the national capital for Covid-19 patients, Amit Shah announced that the Centre has decided to provide 500 railway coaches to Delhi.
“These railway coaches will add 8,000 beds in Delhi for Covid-19 patients and will be equipped with all the facilities to fight the infection,” the Union Minister said.
4. Committee of senior AIIMS doctors to be set up for guiding small hospitals
“To provide correct information and guidelines for Covid-19 to small hospitals in Delhi, the Modi government has decided to constitute a committee of senior doctors for telephonic guidance in AIIMS. The helpline number will be released tomorrow,” Amit Shah said.
5. 60% beds in private hospitals to be provided at lower rate, committee set up
He also announced that for the treatment of Covid-19 in private hospitals in Delhi, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Dr Paul to provide 60 per cent of the beds meant for trating Covid-19 patients in private hospitals at a lower rate. Amit Shah said this would ensure better Covid-19 treatment and testing and the committee will submit its report by Monday.
6. House to house health survey for contact mapping in containment zones
To be able to do contact mapping well in Delhi’s containment zones, a comprehensive health survey of every person will be done from house to house. The report will come in 1 week. Aarogya Setu app will be downloaded in every person’s mobile, Amit Shah said.
7. Joint team of doctors to inspect heath system, preparedness in Delhi
Further, the Home Minster said that a joint team of doctors from the Centre and the Delhi government will visit all Covid-19 hospitals in the capital to inspect their preparedness.
“A joint team of doctors of the Health Department of the Government of India, Health Department of the Government of Delhi, AIIMS and the three Municipal Corporation of Delhi will visit all the corona hospitals in Delhi and inspect the health systems and preparedness to fight the corona and prepare a report,” Amit Shah said.
