Chandrababu Naidu scared of Jagan govt’s fight against corruption: YSRCP senior leader

YSRCP senior leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao on Sunday said that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is making baseless allegations against the state government as he is “scared” of the Jagan Mohan Reddy government’s vigorous fight against corruption.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Veerabhadra Rao said that Chandrababu Naidu is “very much worried” about the investigations taking place including the arrests of his party members as he fears of his role in the scams will be “unveiled” due to the probe.

“It is quite evident that Naidu and [son Nara] Lokesh are behind the scams. There is no political vendetta as the arrests were made after due inquiry,” Veerabhadra Rao said.

Earlier on Saturday, Andhra Pradesh Police arrested TDP leader and ex-MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy and his son JC Asmith Reddy for alleged irregularities in their private transport business. Both were picked up from Hyderabad and shifted to Anantapur.

Strongly objecting to the arrest of Prabhakar Reddy and his son, Chandrababu Naidu said it was yet another instance of the CM Reddy’s intolerance and “vindictive attitude” towards the Opposition.

Chandrababu Naidu also alleged that YSRCP is arresting his party members to divert people’s attention from the miserable failures of the ruling government in its one-year rule. “False cases are being filed and arrests are being made to harass and weaken TDP leaders politically and financially,” Chandrababu Naidu said.

Reacting to this, Veerabhadra Rao said that the arrests were made based on corruption charges and strict action will be taken against those involved in the scams.

“While the government intends to fight against corruption, Chandrababu Naidu is trying to deviate the issue by accusing the government of taking revenge against TDP leaders who refused to join YSRCP,” Veerabhadra Rao said.

Veerabhadra Rao also said that the allegations levelled by Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP party are simply “cheap tricks” being played by the opposition party which is at the “verge of extinction”.

“These are cheap tricks being played by the opposition party which is at the verge of extinction. If it is the objective of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, then about 22 MLAs from TDP could have joined YSRCP of their own will. But our Chief Minister is a man with morals and thus clearly told them to resign before joining our party,” Veerabhadra Rao said.

Veerabhadra Rao said that Chandrababu Naidu is not being able to “digest” the public response towards the YSRCP government and is trying to “irk” the state government in all the possible ways.

“The state government has successfully implemented various welfare schemes and about four crore people are being benefited by the schemes irrespective of their religion, caste, and region. Naidu is not able to digest the public response towards the YSRCP government and is trying to irk the government in all the possible ways,” Veerabhadra Rao said.
